I know, I know, it’s been a while. Here’s the latest:

Lil’ Luke is doing well. He’s catching up growth-wise and is in the 50th percentile in weight and in the 75th percentile for length/height. I guess better long and skinny than short and fat.

Susan went back to work on May 11 and the daily routine is now to drop him off at the grandparents (no, not the ones in Germany) for the day. Luke’s adapted well to the change and grandma and grandpa are doing a good job. We miss him during the day of course. But I guess that’s all good preparation for when we send him off to child labor camp.

Luke is developing restless leg syndrome (RLS). At night he somehow manages to turn himself 90 degrees or more by kicking and moving his legs, which sometimes wakes him up when he has no room for his legs left. When we play with him, he seems to really like feeling resistance for his legs and when you provide that, he gets overly excited pushing and kicking. He then proceeds to bursts of intense kicking while making sounds of excitements and a funny face to go with it. As of yesterday, I started holding a hand target within reach of his legs. I guess we might as well move him along towards a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

The Shmoo (we also call him “Bear” now) still likes floating around in the tub. This may have to do with the fact that he can kick the water.

No more zombie nights (at least for me). He goes to bed by 7:30 and wakes up only once after midnight, needs changing at 6, but otherwise sleeps till 8 or so. Not a bad schedule – what does it take for me to get back to that!? Anyways, he’s definitely the local sleeper cell. People say you grow most in your sleep, so he’s gonna be one tall black belt!

If aliens observed us from space, they’d reach the conclusion that babies are the superior species. In our case, we clean up his poop and he teaches us to make new sounds and funny faces. So whom do you think the aliens perceive as in charge here?

That’s it for now. More after he starts med school next month.
